Tropico ~ A Pirate's Dive!
| Pieces Of Eight |
| Pieces of eight were actually Spanish silver eight "reales" coins. The gold coins were called "escudos." These had the Spanish coat of arms on one side and two columns depicting the Pillars of Hercules (symbolizing the Straits of Gibraltar) on the other. It is thought that the twin pillars became such a recognized symbol for money that the modern dollar sign evolved from it. |

![]() Tropico will be a small family owned SCUBA diving resort... with a pirate theme! We will be specializing in SCUBA diving, dive courses, dive safaris, and local island adventures within our vicinity. Ever think about an island adventure? Mountains with natural springs & waterfalls, volcanoes, caves, sandbars; sea mammal (dolphin, sea turtle, whale, etc.) watching and world class marine sanctuaries. Delicious delicacies, pork , chicken , seafoods , and tropical fruits. Sound good ? How about a 45 to 1 exchange rate ? Sound even better ? Think about the Philippines ! Asia's cultural blend in the tropics The Spaniards were here for approx 400 years ., and the Americans for approx 100 years. With hundreds of Catholic Cathedrals and a Basilica to Taoist Temples and World War II Memorials the Philippines 7107 islands have plenty to do. To read about our local area "Dumaguete City" look on our Blog "The Crier" for the article "The city of gentle people" Currently we are still in the construction stages of this project and will remain so thru 2011. Please feel free to stop by and visit our Photo Gallery from time to time and check on our progress.
Thank You ..., Captain Rich and the Crewe. |
